DALLAS (March 2020) – Alpine Advanced Materials has named COL. Willie D. Coleman as Vice President, Business Development for the Defense and Commercial spaces. Coleman brings more than 20 years of experience as an acquisition professional and project manager in Defense to the new role, where he will help grow market share for HX5™, Alpine’s military aviation grade thermoplastic nanocomposite.
“COL Coleman brings a deep understanding not only of defense and armaments in general, but also of the needs defense professionals face when sourcing suppliers to develop the best solutions,” said Joe D’Cruz, Executive Chairman of Alpine Advanced Materials. “His experience working at the executive level in Defense will further our close collaborations with sales and engineering teams to understand and design the highly performing solutions they need.”
Holding the exclusive global license to HX5, developed by Lockheed Martin Skunk Works®, Alpine works with companies in the aerospace, space, military/defense, and outdoor products and sports markets to design and manufacture stronger and lighter custom-engineered components. Using the highly characterized HX5, Alpine can produce parts here in America that are up to fifty percent lighter and 90 percent as strong as 6061 aluminum. HX5 has more than a decade of testing and $50 million in development behind it, and has demonstrated survivability and performance in the most extreme environments.
Prior to joining Alpine, Coleman served as a career Army Officer in Infantry and Acquisition, most recently as Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management with the Pentagon Army Secretariat, acting as the senior acquisition lead on the Chief of Staff of the Army’s transition team. Before that role, he was Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems at the Program Executive Office Ammunition with responsibility for life cycle management of an Army portfolio of 102 munitions and weapon products. Coleman also previously served as an Executive Officer to the Presidentially-appointed Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology within the Pentagon Army Secretariat.
Coleman holds a B.S. in Marketing from South Carolina State University, an M.S. in National Security and Resource Strategy from the Dwight D.
